About 11 Lillian Street — Distinction Condos
It’s difficult, after over 60 years of building forward thinking homes, to elevate one’s standards further. But the Lash Group of Companies seem to be doing just that. Completed in 2019, the Distinction Condos at 11 Lillian Street in the Yonge and Eglinton neighbourhood captivate prospective residents like no other in the city.
Known for their bold, contemporary aesthetic, like the Fabrik Condos in the Fashion District and Corktown’s Trinity Lofts, Giannone Petricone Associates gave the 19-storey Distinction Condos an exciting, innovative design. The Condos’ tower seems to twist, especially with every floor’s wraparound balconies set above a smartly squared-off glass podium. This artistic interplay of forms gives the Distinction Condos a unique contemporary sophistication few would even dare aspire to conceive of.
Architectural ambitions aside, the building also offers luxury amenities spread out over three floors. At ground level, residents enjoy a library, bar and lounge area, as well as the gorgeous doubly-storey lobby with 24-hour concierge service. On the second floor, the fitness facilities feature all the equipment one can ask for and even a yoga/dance studio. Furthermore, on the fourth floor residents can host the most stylish of parties, with a presentation kitchen to showcase culinary skills, a lavish lounge, and a dining room adorned with an art wall and a fireplace.
Still, there’s even more amenities and space to entertain on 11 Lillian’s rooftop. The terrace features a yoga/meditation area, a sundeck, a fireplace lounge, plus outdoor dining space along with a barbecue and a common rooftop indoor kitchen — Lash literally went beyond expectations when designing the Distinction Condos.
The Suites
At 11 Lillian there are 98 Toronto condos which span in size from approximately 500 to 1,900 square feet. This includes one, two, and three bedroom homes. No matter which Toronto condos for sale best serve a prospective buyer, every single one in this building has either its own balcony or terrace.
The outdoor space is indeed inviting, especially with a gas barbecue connection, but it’s inside the suites where the Distinction Condos’ lives up to its name. The floor plans are bright and spacious with at least 9 foot high, smooth ceilings throughout most of the living areas. Giannone Petricone Associates have chosen contemporary cabinetry for the kitchens, which marvelously match the quartz countertops and designer backsplashes. Lastly, the appliances are all from Miele, and all stainless steel, tying everything together in a timeless fashion.
The Neighbourhood
At 11 Lillian, the condos sit on a quiet street that opens up onto a vibrant scene no matter the direction one heads out in. Towards the east, Mount Pleasant Road’s collection of charming specialty shops and eclectic stores are fun to explore. Moreover, the independent and foreign films at the Regent Theatre on Mount Pleasant near Belsize Drive can be transportive, especially in a space so wonderfully preserved from the 1920s.
North of the Distinction Condos, Eglinton Avenue offers a diversity of eateries. Whether prospective residents crave pub fare, an indulgent steakhouse experience, or a carefully crafted coffee, they can find what they want just up the street. Though, if they’d rather spend a night in, there’s a Loblaws and an LCBO right at the corner of Lillian and Eglinton.
West of Lillian, Yonge Street is very convenient. Many brands can be found in the retail spaces below the towers at Yonge and Eglinton, in addition to all the major Canadian banks and a ServiceOntario.
Transportation
Though 11 Lillian may feel like a quiet escape away from the city, it’s very well located, meaning getting around the city is easy — even if one doesn’t wish to drive. Eglinton station is a short walk away at Yonge and Eglinton intersection. From there, buses serve midtown well, and the subway takes riders to destinations throughout the city in no time.
Those who do drive enjoy living near many major roads: Yonge extends all the way to the Lakeshore, and Eglinton Avenue leads as far west as Mississauga and east to Scarborough. Though, if drivers have destinations that far away, both the 401 and Don Valley Parkway are around fifteen minutes from 11 Lillian.
