About 1470 Midland Avenue — Scarborough Fair Condos
Whoever named the condos at 1470 Midland Avenue must have been a fan of Simon and Garfunkel. The developers at RMIC Building Corporation named the Scarborough Fair Condos after the wildly popular 1966 hit, regardless of the fact that the condominium came almost 30 years after the song.
Completed in 1992, 1470 Midland Ave contains 273 Toronto condos spread out over 22 storeys. While the building might win over some folk rock fans, condo seekers are typically more attracted to the Scarborough Fair Condos for its amenities. Residents have access to an indoor pool, gym, and sauna, plus the building boasts a concierge, security, and underground parking.
The Suites
Homes at 1470 Midland Ave range from modest to generously sized, or, for the numbers people reading this, 600 to 1,300 square feet. The building isn’t equipped to house large families, as the biggest suites contain two bedrooms plus a den. That said, residents with one or two children can find Toronto condos for sale to suit their needs at 1470 Midland Ave.
Style-wise, it’s difficult to sum up the homes at 1470 Midland Ave. Seeing as the building has been around for a couple of decades now, some homes have received upgrades and updates over the years, while others are waiting patiently for a fresh coat of paint. Condo seekers can, however, expect to find floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the building, as well as large, separate kitchens — many with pass-through windows.
The Neighbourhood
When people think of Scarborough, sleepy culs-de-sac and single-family homes with enormous front lawns often come to mind. Dorset Park - Scarborough, which reaches from Midland to Birchmount and from the Gatineau Hydro Corridor Trail to the 401, may have its fair share of residential streets, however 1470 Midland Ave is situated steps away from countless resources.
For one, residents have a pharmacy and a major grocery store right across the street from their homes, on the east side of Midland Avenue. Between both Midland and Lawrence, there are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance of 1470 Midland Ave.
Speaking of food, one of the most exciting annual events in Scarborough happens to be right next door, in the Wexford Heights area. Every summer, residents from all over the city flock to Lawrence Avenue East in order to attend the Taste of Lawrence. Here, attendees can sample food from around the world — without having to leave the city.
Transportation
Not all Scarborough homes are as accessible as those at the Scarborough Fair Condos. Even residents who don’t like to drive can get around the city with ease, especially with Lawrence East Station just 500 metres away. Once at this station, residents can head west along the Scarborough subway line, with the option to transfer onto the Bloor-Danforth line at Kennedy Station.
Living at 1470 Midland Ave also proves to be quite convenient for residents who drive. A quick drive west on Lawrence Avenue will land cars at an on ramp for the Don Valley Parkway. Once there, drivers have the option to head north toward the 404 or south to the downtown core. Having the 401 so close at hand also comes in handy, with major highway accessible by heading north along either Kennedy or Brimley Road.
