About 19 Lower Village Gate — Village Gate II Condos
There’s something to be said for an established, longstanding building in the heart of the elite Forest Hill South neighbourhood. The Village Gate II Condos at 19 Lower Village Gate was built by Camrost-Felcorp back in 1988 and has been a sought-after residence ever since, along with its sister residence: Village Gate.
The décor of the lobby at 19 Lower Village Gate sets the stage immediately for residents and their guests: marble covers not only the floors but the walls as well, with an extravagant chandelier hanging above head.
The 7-storey, glass-clad structure is predominantly rectangular, save for a rotunda that sits overtop of the front entryway. Inside the building, 82 luxury suites can be found, as well as a generous lineup of amenities. Residents have access to a gym, outdoor swimming pool, sauna, and library, as well as underground parking and a concierge.
The Suites
Even the smallest Toronto condos at 19 Lower Village Gate are anything but small: suites start at approximately 1,100 square feet and span just over 2,000 at their largest. One bedroom, two bedroom, and two bedroom plus den homes can be found throughout the building.
The impressively large, bright living areas in these homes are just as well suited for dinner parties as they are for relaxing at home with the kids. And come summertime, residents will love being able to entertain on their balconies as well.
The Neighbourhood
When we mentioned that Forest Hill South is elite, we didn’t mean that lightly – it’s one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in the city. While not quite as large as those in Bridle Path & Sunnybrook, many of the homes in Forest Hill South make you stop in your tracks. Thanks to the enormous houses found here, and the even more colossal plots of land, the density of the neighbourhood is rather low. As a result, the streets tend to be calmer, and the overall atmosphere more serene.
Even the Forest Hill Village – a small commercial strip of Spadina Road between Thelma Avenue and Montclair – is enchanting. Here, residents can find a bookstore, an LCBO, a Starbucks, a grocery store, a couple of fitness studios, and a handful of restaurants.
19 Lower Village Gate also happens to be situated next to a ravine that’s perfect for pet owners or residents who love to take a stroll every now and then. Walking north along the trails will eventually land residents at Cedarvale Park, which contains an off-leash dog area, a cricket field, an indoor ice rink, and plenty of great picnic spots.
Transportation
With its location directly in the middle of Spadina and Bathurst, residents can use either of these arterial roads to get around the city. Those without cars can use the 7 Bathurst or 33 Forest Hill buses to travel north and south, with the former making a stop at Bathurst Station on the Bloor-Danforth line and the latter at St. Clair West Station on the University-Spadina line.
Alternatively, those heading out by car can head south along Bathurst or Spadina in order to reach the downtown core. Bathurst can also be used to reach the 401 to the north, which comes in handy when heading to the airport or up north to cottage country.
