About 200 Clinton Street — Button Factory Lofts
A little piece of history: while the factories of old Toronto have long since been demolished or moved out of the downtown core, the Button Factory Lofts at 200 Clinton Street was originally a converted garment shop, built over a hundred years ago. Its namesake comes from old stories of children visiting their parents at work, and being paid pennies to pick up buttons from the factory floor.
Located just west of Bathurst Street and north of College, the Button Factory Lofts at 200 Clinton Street offers ideal homes for prospective buyers in search of Toronto condos for sale with all the benefits of a private residence, and the conveniences of condominium living.
Renovated in 1996, the Button Factory retains its simple red brick exterior, which blends seamlessly with the neighborhood’s surrounding homes. Converted homes like the Button Factory Lofts are rare in Toronto these days, especially ones located on quiet residential streets with views of the CN Tower.
Though 200 Clinton Street lacks luxurious amenities like a pool (though there is one in the nearby High Park), this is made up for by privacy, peace-of-mind, and easy access to plenty of neighbourhood hot-spots.
The Suites
The Button Factory Lofts spans only two stories and holds 13 Toronto lofts, which range from about 1550 to approximately 2400 square feet. Spaces this large are getting harder to come by in the downtown core, especially in a highly walkable and central area like Little Italy.
The suites come with 1 or 2 bedrooms, 1 to 3 bathrooms, and are highly customizable thanks to their open-concept spaces. Some units cover multiple floors, with ceilings reaching up to almost 24 feet due to the mezzanine-style upper storeys.
Kitchens boast stainless steel appliances, polished stone countertops, and breakfast bars or islands. Thanks to the refurbished factory windows, they’re bright and roomy with a rustic atmosphere, great for entertaining, cooking feasts, or just pouring that first cup of coffee in the morning.
200 Clinton Street really lives up to the hard-loft hype, blending exposed wooden beams, posts, and brick with modern finishes like polished hardwood floors and glass banisters. The most luxurious units at The Button Factory also have fireplaces, plus multiple private terraces.
The Neighbourhood
Tucked away in the residential area of Palmerston | Little Italy, just south of Koreatown, the Button Factory Lofts is surrounded by quiet, tree-lined, one way streets. At the same time, 200 Clinton sits close to plenty of places to visit, shop, or drink along Harbord, College and Bathurst Streets. Plus, living close to Little Italy and Koreatown has its perks: residents have plenty of great local restaurants to eat at. There are many nearby grocery stores to shop at as well, including organic shops and fresh produce stands in Kensington Market to the east, just a short TTC trip away.
There are several large parks near 200 Clinton Street including Bickford Park, great for dog-walking, and Art Eggleton Park. A bit farther are Christie Pits to the north, Trinity Bellwoods to the south, and Dufferin Grove to the west, the last two of which host farmers markets. Multiple schools are also nearby, including Clinton Street Junior Public, Harbord Collegiate Institute, and Central Technical School.
The area has a night-life to rival any in the city, as late nights spent dancing or catching up with friends at Sneaky Dees or The Mod Club would prove. For a more relaxing evening, one could visit the independent Royal Theatre for a film, the Randolph Theatre for a play, or either the AGO or Super Wonder Gallery to take in some art.
Transportation
There are plenty of ways for residents to get around. Harbord street has its own bike lanes for dedicated cyclists, while the Bathurst streetcar and several other TTC routes along College or Bloor West help residents get to wherever they need to go.
Christie Station is close by, just 8-minutes away on foot (or 5 if you walk like you have somewhere to be). For drivers, the nearest major highway is the Gardiner Expressway, which can be accessed via Jameson Avenue.
