About 30 Nelson Street — Studio 2
Following the success of the Studio on Richmond, Aspen Ridge Homes’ created a second development in the Entertainment District that captivates many prospective homeowners. At 30 Nelson Street, the Studio 2 Condos integrates easily into the exciting Queen West neighbourhood, while also shining brightly on its own — as any sequel should.
Completed in 2017, Quadrangle Architects carefully considered both the industrial history of the Entertainment District and its exciting future when they designed the Studio 2 Condos. As the tower rises to 41-storeys, its contemporary aesthetic features an artistic arrangement of glass-clad stacked cubes – representative of the aspirations 30 Nelson’s designers and developers have for this innovative new building.
At street level though, the style shifts towards a classic aesthetic. The podium, boasting resolute masonry, is sleekly carved with modern lines that leave a strong and sophisticated impression. And inside, the podium contains high-end retail and restaurant space, townhomes, and an attractive collection of amenities.
Mike Niven’s studio designed the amenities area expertly - inspired by the opulence of golden-age Hollywood films, nonetheless. Residents enjoy access to a beautiful dining room, media room, lounge, as well as all the fitness facilities athletes could need, with rooms for cardio, weights, and yoga. Finally, ensuring it’s always ready for a party, a chic bar and an aqua lounge can be found here as well.
The Suites
At 30 Nelson Street, there are 411 suites. This includes studio, one and two bedroom units, along with some townhomes containing three bedrooms spread out over multiple floors. While the sizes of these homes span approximately 400 to 2,600 square feet, all Queen West condos for sale in this building feel spacious and luxurious thanks to open-concept designs, expansive windows, and, as with the amenities areas, Mike Niven at the helm of their interior design.
Niven’s distinctive modern aesthetic results in refined, cleanly designed suites. Still, with top-of-line materials like engineered wood flooring, granite and Caeserstone countertops, a warm richness resounds throughout the suites.
Lastly, the builders and designers sought out the best fixtures for the Studio 2 Condos: every kitchen contains designer Miele appliances and all the bathrooms feature gorgeous Hansgrohe faucets. Many even include deep soaker tubs — a sumptuous retreat perfect for anyone living an exciting lifestyle in the Entertainment District.
The Neighbourhood
Nestled between Richmond Street and Adelaide Street West, 30 Nelson is in the heart of the Entertainment District. There are many reasonably-priced and delicious restaurants, cafés and pubs in the area, in addition to more indulgent fine dining spots – all catering to hungry audiences exiting the plethora of cultural and performance venues in the area.
The attractions that everyone knows are close at hand – the beautiful Royal Alexandra and Princess of Wales Theatres, the lavish Roy Thomson Hall, and the internationally-acclaimed TIFF Bell Lightbox — but residents of the Studio 2 Condos can explore those places, and also get to know this vibrant area much more intimately.
Independent galleries can be found in the Entertainment District’s many side streets, but residents should definitely pay a visit to 401 Richmond as well. About a five-minute walk, this charming heritage brick building showcases works by emerging artists, cultural producers, and passionate social innovators.
Transportation
Living in a neighbourhood filled with so many cultural venues means that residents can get around the city without any difficulty. There are many public transit options in the area: a major streetcar, the 501 Queen, runs east and west through the city, and stops nearby at Queen Street West and McCaul Street.
Using the 501, riders can head to Osgoode Station and transfer onto the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line. Though, if they please, Osgoode is less than a five-minute walk from 30 Nelson, at the corner of Queen and University Avenue.
Last but not least, the roads around the Studio 2 Condos move quickly, carrying passengers around downtown Toronto. But if their destinations are outside the city proper, residents will love living five minutes from the highway. Drivers need only head south to the lakeshore, where they can connect to the Gardiner Expressway from both Spadina Avenue and York Street.
