About 33 Harbour Square — Harbour Square
The first of The Waterfront complex comprised of five buildings, the Harbour Square Condos by the Campeau Corporation are grand and sophisticated, and still attracting prospective homeowners even considering all the new, competing developments in the area. Moreover, none of those constructions can possibly be as close to the water as 33 Harbour Square.
Built in 1978, these 33-storey condos are diagonally set on their lot, which gives their residents great exposures to both the Lake and the cityscape. The elegance of building’s modern architectural design by Bregman + Hamann Architects has endured well: it’s still as vital a part of Lakeshore’s skyline as when it first helped to establish the area’s captivating allure.
Aside from architectural beauty, the building houses a spectacular set of amenities for Harbour Square’s residents. There’s an indoor pool, two squash courts, a fully stocked gym, a yoga room, a library, a children’s playroom, and a lavish party room. Furthermore, on the rooftop terrace, residents can relax, barbecue, and adore their gorgeously groomed gardens.
Lastly, those living at 33 Harbour Square enjoy the condo’s excellent 24-hour concierge service and access to its private shuttle bus service. Departing from right outside the building, the exclusive bus service takes residents throughout the city to theatres, galleries, shopping destinations, and many fine restaurants.
The Suites
There aren’t many suites in the city like the homes found in the Harbour Square Condos: while they range in size from around 550 to 2,150 square feet, most of its one and two bedroom homes span two levels — and as a result they feel quite generous. In total there are 539 suites, allowing for prospective buyers of all kinds to find Toronto condos for sale here.
The different layouts and variety of residents, plus its almost thirty-year history, means many of the suites have been customized to the tastes of its owners. No matter how many upgrades (or how few) have been made, the unobstructed view of the water and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows ensures the atmosphere throughout the units remains bright and fresh.
The Neighbourhood
At the foot of 33 Harbour Square, Harbour Square Park is a gorgeous green space that gives residents a front yard like no other. Amongst its grand, mature trees, residents can find the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, from which they can take it to visit the Toronto Islands as frequently as they please.
Since no cars can be taken onto the ferry, the Toronto Islands are idyllic places to spend a summer’s day. While there are some eclectic restaurants and pubs on the island, with extraordinary views of the city nonetheless, many enjoy bringing their own food to have a picnic, or even to have a roast at one of its many fire pits.
Conversely, residents are steps away from some of the most exciting events and venerable institutions in the city. North of Queens Quay, the east end of Harbour Square becomes Bay Street, and just at its next corner sits the legendary Harbour Sixty Steakhouse. Soon after, Bay leads to the Scotiabank Arena, where both the Leafs and Raptors play, and the most beloved musicians perform concerts.
Transportation
Even without the exclusive shuttle bus service, those living at 33 Harbour Square can get around downtown Toronto with ease. For residents with cars of their own York Street boasts a nearby on-ramp to the Gardiner Expressway.
Last but not least, TTC Streetcars stop right in front of the building, on Queens Quay West at the Ferry Docks Terminal. Residents can use the Streetcar to quickly head up Bay and transfer onto the subway. Other options include taking GO Transit, VIA Rail or UP Express from the nearby Union Station — also only about a five-minute walk from the lobby doors.
