About 412 Jarvis Street — Windsor Lofts
If you’ve always dreamt about living in a brownstone in New York — but never actually moved there — then this is the building for you. Originally an old apartment building, Windsor Lofts was converted into luxurious lofts, renovating all the units but leaving the exterior intact.
Located at 412 Jarvis St, Windsor Lofts is a reprieve from towering high-rises and sprawling developments; at 5-storeys tall and with only 30 lofts inside, this property is a welcome change of pace, providing a much more private living experience than found in large buildings.
In exchange for enhanced privacy, you’ll have to sacrifice on amenities; Windsor Lofts has an exercise room, sauna, and security — there are no additional bells and whistles here. However, it’s not all bad news, because the bonus of limited amenities is low maintenance fees — ideal for prospective buyers who are keen on downtown Toronto condos and don’t need a long list of extras.
The Suites
All suites at 412 Jarvis are based on open-concept loft layouts; suite sizes range from 607 square feet for a 1 bedroom to almost 1100 square feet for a 2 bedroom loft. This building is very desirable, so if you’re interested in a unit at Windsor Lofts then you’ll need to move quickly when one hits the market.
Along with spacious floor plans, these lofts have appealing features — hardwood floors, updated kitchens with modern appliances, Juliette balconies, bay windows, some units have fireplaces, and all lofts have a private terrace.
With a great location in the Church Street Corridor, Windsor Lofts is well suited to couples and professionals — first-time home buyers may find this property interesting as well, but these Toronto condos for sale might be a little too pricey for a first home.
The Neighbourhood
Church - Toronto, also known as the The Church Street Corridor, is a diverse neighbourhood — occupying a prominent place in the LGBTQ community — packed with restaurants, bars, cafes and cultural exhibits. Residents of this neighbourhood enjoy easy access to the Eaton Centre, Yonge-Dundas Square, and major transportation hubs.
With a loft at 412 Jarvis St, you have great dining options nearby; stroll across the street and you’ll find the acclaimed Blake House — a cozy grill with fantastic food. Go around the corner to Church and there’s Kawa Sushi, Loaded Pierogi, Indian Roti House, Sambucas On Church and countless others. If that doesn’t satisfy your food craving, Yonge Street is littered with mouth-watering restaurants.
For entertainment, there’s a little something for everyone — for nightlife, there are bars and clubs on Church Street like Fly 2.0 and Boutique Bar, plus many more on Yonge. Concert goers have The Phoenix Concert Theatre and Massey Hall for the latest up and coming bands. Art and culture fans can catch a show at the Ed Mirvish Theatre on Yonge and Betty Oliphant Theatre next door to your building, or sample galleries like Gallery Arcturus on Gerrard.
Shopping enthusiasts can hop on a Streetcar and make their way to the Eaton centre for hundreds of stores offering the latest in fashion and technology. However, given that 412 Jarvis is so close to Yorkville, you may feel a calling to head north instead; on Bloor you’ll find all the high-end brands like Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton — so the only limit will be your bank balance.
Transportation
412 Jarvis St has a 97 Walk Score — with a condo in this building you can easily run errands in the area without the need for a vehicle or public transit. For groceries and essential purchases, there’s a Rabba Fine Foods on Wellesley, a Pusateri Fruit on Church, and a Loblaws and Little Bee Market on Carlton.
Those who rely on public transit will not have to go far for a stop — there are streetcars right outside your door on Jarvis, connecting to Church and Carlton. For longer trips, there are north and southbound buses on Sherbourne, east and westbound buses on Wellesley, and it’s less than a 10 minute walk to Wellesley Station for subway lines.
Toronto is not known to be a driver-friendly city, but car-owners at Windsor Lofts won’t have to spend too much time in traffic. For the Gardiner Expressway, head south on Jarvis to the Lower Jarvis on-ramp. And if you need the Don Valley Parkway, go north on Jarvis and then east on Bloor for the Danforth on-ramp.
