Not to be confused with the Village by the Grange & Grangetown Lofts in downtown Toronto, the Grange Condos at 551 the West Mall is much larger, and slightly older. The Grange Condos was built back in 1970 by Grozbord, King & Associates Limited, and contains 305 units spread out over 15 storeys.
Residents living at 551 the West Mall also have access to a generous array of amenities, including a concierge, visitor parking, and a car wash. The building also boasts a games room, an indoor swimming pool, barbecues, a party room, and a fitness centre.
The Suites
Thanks to the two bedroom, two bedroom plus den, three bedroom, and three bedroom plus den suites found throughout the building, 551 the West Mall makes a great home for residents with children, those who want to work from home, and those who find themselves in the centre of that Venn diagram.
Toronto condos for sale and rent in the building start at around 950 square feet and cover approximately 1,400 square feet at their largest. We wouldn’t go so far as to call the homes at the Grange Condos ultramodern, however they’re most definitely contemporary thanks to sleek kitchens, clean lines, and bright, open concept living spaces.
The Neighbourhood
Etobicoke West Mall may not roll off the tongue like West Queen West does, nor are most Torontonians especially familiar with this neighbourhood. Yet with all the attractions and amenities surrounding 551 the West Mall, there’s no doubt in our minds that Etobicoke West Mall is something of a hidden gem.
Speaking of gems, the jewel of Etobicoke West Mall has to be none other than Centennial Park. Created in celebration of Canada’s 100th birthday (as the name suggests), this enormous green space is home to a ski hill, a go-karting track, and a golf course. Centennial Park also hosts Jerk Fest each August, where attendees can chow down on award-winning jerk chicken while watching a concert at the same time.
And now for the really important stuff: food. Home chefs planning to cook up a storm can stock up on staples at either Loblaws or No Frills, both of which take about 5 minutes to reach from 551 the West Mall by car. Those looking for World cuisine, on the other hand, can head over to Dundas Street West, where they’ll find Turkish food at Anatolia, Korean at Chodang Soon Tofu, and much more. And while the food isn’t the main attraction at Sherway Gardens, IKEA, and Costco, these nearby institutions are well equipped to feed hungry shoppers.
Transportation
When it comes to travelling to and from 551 the West Mall, nothing beats the 427. This major highway offers drivers access to the 401 and Pearson International Airport to the north, as well as the Gardiner Expressway and the Queensway to the south.
As for residents who prefer not to drive, there are plenty of options for getting around the immediate area, as well as commuting into downtown Toronto. The 112 West Mall bus, for example, carries passengers to Kipling Station, from which trains heading east toward the Yonge and University-Spadina lines depart every few minutes. The 48 Rathburn bus is another great option that lands residents at Royal York Station in just over 20 minutes.
