    About 65 Harbour SquareHarbourside

The many developers building in downtown Toronto along Lake Ontario look to the Campeau Corporation’s location at 55-65 Harbour Square with envy. The Harbourside Condos have occupied this prime location right beside the water since 1980.

Nonetheless, the building at 55-65 Harbour Square in the The Waterfront neighbourhood is quite impressive, thanks to Bregman + Hamann Architects who oversaw its design. Standing at 37-storeys, this concrete building’s architectural adornments are minimal, but its particularly wide structure creates rows of specularly shining windows, giving the Harbourside Condos a grand impression. Many architects can only aspire to the timeless elegance afforded by such a vast expanse of glass.

Even though it’s one of the original condominiums in the area, the Harbourside Condos remains luxurious, with many modern, updated amenities. Residents can enjoy the condo’s exclusive shuttle bus, 24-hour concierge service, and access to a saltwater indoor pool, and fully-equipped fitness facilities with squash court. And, for entertaining friends and family, a lounge, a party room and outdoor terraces can be found at 55-65 Harbour Square, with gorgeously groomed gardens and common barbeques. There’s even an exclusive licensed lounge for residents of the Harbourside Condos, known as the “Tiffany Room.”

Awarded the Condominium of the Year award by the Canadian Condominium Institute in 2009, prospective buyers will be attracted to the full-fledged community at 55-65 Harbour Square. The residents make up active committees who stage social events throughout the year, including an annual arts and crafts show. They have also collected thousands of books for an astounding common library. As a result, the atmosphere is more than welcoming — it’s a refreshingly embracing environment.

    The Suites

Taking advantage of this pristine lakeside location, the Harbourside Condos are renowned for their suites’ floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious balconies. Its 602 suites include studios that start at around 550 square feet and penthouses that reach almost 3,000.

No matter the size of the suite, prospective residents will find that Toronto condos for sale in this building have been wonderfully maintained over the years. The suites’ smart floor plans feature exceptionally spacious rooms, which compare favourably to many new developments.

    The Neighbourhood

South of Queens Quay, at 55-65 Harbour Square the only thing between the condominium and Lake Ontario is Harbour Square Park, an abundant green space which contains the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal. This means those living at Harbour Square can easily escape to the verdant landscapes thriving on the Toronto Islands.

Even still, exploring the city is easy for the Harbourside Condos’ residents. Across the street from their building, the sophisticated Power Plant Gallery exhibits internationally-acclaimed contemporary artist — and admission is always free. Additionally, the Harbourfront Centre delivers art, culture, education, and recreation programs which can fill residents schedule if they so please.

Lastly, even before Harbour Square meets Queens Quay West, it intersects the Martin Goodman Trail. Residents can use this trail to explore many of the city’s neighbourhoods, from High Park & Swansea to the west, and The Beaches to the east.

    Transportation

While those who call this building home do appreciate access to exclusive shuttle bus service, they can still get around the city on their own just as easily.

The TTC’s 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina Streetcars both stop steps away from 55-66 Harbour Square, on Queens Quay West at the Harbourfront Centre. The 509 and 510 Streetcars take riders through the western part of the Lakeshore area and the downtown Core, respectively, as well as to Union Station, where passengers can transfer onto the subway or take GO Transit, VIA Rail, and the UP Express services.

For residents with cars of their own, the highway is not far off. North of Queens Quay West, Harbour Square becomes York Street and drivers need only follow it a few minutes to reach the Gardiner Expressway.
