About 701 King Street W — The Summit Condos
When a condo is still desirable after all these years, you know that’s a good sign — especially in such an unpredictable city as Toronto. Built back in 1984, even Toddglen Construction Ltd. probably didn’t expect the city to explode like it has over the past couple of decades, in terms of both density and desirability.
The Summit Condos’ townhouses and mid-rise tower makes up one third of a complex: the rest, also known as the The Summit II Condos and The Summit III Condos, located at 705 and 725 King Street West. This portion, the Summit Condos, can be found at 701 King Street West & 570 Wellington Street West.
The classic, red brick façade rises to 13 storeys high, and is home to 206 units in total. Amenities are located in the “Summit Club,” and cater to residents with a variety of needs and interests. Those who like to unwind after a long day can head over to the cinema with a bowl of popcorn and some friends, while residents who prefer to blow off steam in a more active capacity will enjoy making use of the multiple squash courts, gym, and two pools (one indoor and one outdoor).
On top of all of those luxuries, residents have a 24-hour concierge to rely on, plus party room and games room.
The Suites
While the variety of amenities might attract all sorts of prospective buyers to consider Toronto condos for sale at 701 King Street West & 570 Wellington West, the different size and exposure options will only satisfy them further. Suites range from junior one bedroom to 2 bedroom plus den condos, while some even boast solariums. In terms of size, the condos start at around 700 and reach to approximately 1,100 square feet.
Single professional, family of four, and empty nesters alike will all have no problem enjoying the floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows found throughout the building. Open concept floor plans are also abundant, as are sleek, stainless steel appliances in kitchens.
The Neighbourhood
Whereas location is concerned, it really doesn’t get much better than King West neighbourhood. Residents living at 701 King Street West & 570 Wellington Street West have their pick when it comes to how to spend their days off: wandering through tree-lined, gallery-filled streets to the west, heading east toward the bustling Fashion District, or heading south toward Lake Ontario with its parks, trails, and outdoor activities.
Even something as tedious as grocery shopping is less of a chore when living here. Residents need to walk just 750 metres in order to find the massive Loblaws at Queen and Portland. There’s even a Joe Fresh downstairs and a Winners above, for those looking to do some one-stop shopping.
Outdoorsy types can spend their first few weekends at the Summit Condos checking out all of the parks in the neighbourhood before settling on their favourite spot—or some might not even be able to choose. A quick green getaway can be found at the charming Victoria Memorial Park, while more in terms of facilities are to be found at Stanley Park or Trinity Bellwoods Park.
Other dynamic neighbourhoods are also within reach, where residents will find a change of pace from their own area. On Queen Street West, shoppers can visit brand names and independent boutiques; Just beyond this is Kensington Market, with its cheese shops, bakeries, fresh produce markets, and vintage clothing and furniture stores; Chinatown is also in reach, where authentic restaurants and imported goods will keep anyone busy for hours.
Transportation
Being situated so close to King and Bathurst has its perks, and transportation is certainly one of them. Even those without cars can travel around the downtown core and beyond with ease, thanks to the central location of the Summit Condos.
Streetcars along King West will transport passengers west toward Parkdale or east for connections to the Yonge-University-Spadina Line. Bathurst streetcars, alternatively, carry travelers up to Bathurst Station on the Bloor-Danforth Line, or as far south as Queens Quay for access to Lake Ontario or Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
Even those heading out of the city altogether can rest easy: Union Station, where GO trains and buses, VIA Rail Trains, and the UP service to Pearson International Airport can be found, is a 20-minute trip away via streetcar. Billy Bishop Airport takes all of about 17 minutes to reach on public transit, while those heading to Pearson should budget a little less than an hour.
Drivers can make use of the Gardiner Expressway, located just minutes away. Major arterial roads like King, Bathurst, Lake Shore Boulevard, and Spadina Avenue are also great options for zipping around the immediate area.
