About 8 Colborne Street — Cosmopolitan
Whenever we hear of condos available inside a hotel, we are immediately intrigued. For one, hotels are held to a different standard, since they need to attract visitors on a daily basis. And not only are the Cosmopolitan Condos set within a downtown Toronto hotel, they inhabit a hotel that made it onto Condé Nast Traveler’s Hot List back in 2006.
At that time, the building had been around only a year: the 2005-built residences at 8 Colborne Street arrived on the scene thanks to Skyline International Development Inc. The Cosmopolitan Condos span 26 floors, with the boutique building only home to 97 Toronto condos.
If we bought a place at 8 Colborne Street we’d surely be tempted to bribe hotel staff to put chocolates on our pillows in the mornings, however for most residents the abundant amenities are more than enough. Not only do residents have access to a gym, party room, concierge, meeting room, guest suites, and parking, but thanks to its dual status as a hotel residents can make regular visits to the Shizen Spa or the wine bar as well.
To top it all off, the bragging rights are real at 8 Colborne: the Cosmopolitan Hotel has hosted a star-studded lineup of guests in the past, including Vince Vaughn and Kate Hudson, to name a few.
The Suites
The bragging doesn’t have to stop there either, thanks to the fact that a penthouse unit was once featured on an episode of Designer Guys. This awe-inspiring home also happens to boast 24-foot ceilings, a solarium, and a massive terrace to boot.
But since there are only one of these gems, the rest of the condos should also be discussed. Toronto condos for sale at 8 Colborne Street are accessible even to first time buyers, thanks to the cozier condos available, perfect for just one or two. Sizes range from around 300 to 1,500 square feet, meaning even those with small families can find a comfortable home in the Cosmopolitan Condos.
Separating these homes from the standard cube condo are elements such as floor to ceiling windows, and modern kitchens. Hardwood floors can also be found throughout the building, adding warmth to these already bright spaces.
The Neighbourhood
With its location at King and Yonge, the Cosmopolitan Condos really deserve the name that they have. Residents are lucky enough to reside within the busy St. Lawrence neighbourhood, while the privacy that comes along with being tucked away on Colborne Street is an added bonus.
Options for entertainment are endless with 8 Colborne as a starting point. St. Lawrence, the Financial District, the Entertainment District, the Historic Distillery District, and the Harbourfront are just a couple of areas waiting to be explored by residents.
Fans of live entertainment can visit venues such as Roy Thompson Hall, the Princess of Wales Theatre, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, or the Rogers Centre, all of which are a quick walk or trip on the subway away. Shopaholics will rejoice, thanks to their close proximity to the Eaton Centre, while foodies will never grow tired of taking a stroll over to St. Lawrence Market.
While the vast array of restaurants along King and Queen Streets will be tempting enough, those who prefer to cook can take a 7-minute walk over to the Market by Longo’s on King West, a 5-minute stroll toward the Metro on Front, or a 6-minute trip to the Saks Food Hall at Queen and Yonge.
Those who love hosting out-of-towners will love how close they live to major Toronto attractions. The CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, and Roger’s Centre are all just a short walk away.
Transportation
However one likes to get around, living at 8 Colborne is convenient as can be: cyclists, pedestrians, drivers, and public transit users alike can reach all areas of the city in no time.
For those who tend to stick to two wheels, the Martin Goodman Trail will come in handy. This car-free route is great for cyclists who want to head east or west, as it hugs the lakeshore for 56 kilometres. Alternatively, bike lanes along Richmond and Adelaide will certainly come in handy for bicycle commutes.
Drivers can head down to the Gardiner Expressway, from which they can zip around the southern edge of the city. This route also provides access to the Don Valley Parkway to the east and the 427 to the west.
And last but not least, TTC travel is made simple thanks to the location next to Yonge Street. Hopping onto the subway at King Station allows passengers to head north or south, while King streetcars are ideal for those heading east or west.
