About 80 Front Street E — Market Square
While many condos boast about their proximity to the St. Lawrence Market, few are as close as the Market Square Condos — at 80 Front Street East, their residents actually live right across the street. But regardless of their prime location, Toronto condos for sale at the distinguished Market Square Condos, renowned for the spaciousness of their suites, would attract many prospective residents from anywhere in the city.
The legendary architect Jerome Markson designed the Market Square Condos in 1980, and they were carefully completed by his York Developments in 1983. Standing at 8-storeys, 80 Front East is a charming brick construction, with understated details. The deeper red bricks of its top level frame the building with sophistication. Additionally, the building’s articulated window bays project a sense of grandeur that’s rarely paired with such a subtlety. Altogether, the aesthetic is thoroughly modern, and the epitome of eighties era residential architecture.
As such, the residents are proud of their community. The epitome of the friendly atmosphere is the concierge service — happy to welcome newcomers and share the building’s marvelous amenities. The extras at 80 Front East includes a well-equipped gym with squash courts and a sauna, a library, and an expansive rooftop terrace.
In fact, the rooftop terrace showcases just how much residents care for their community. They have gorgeously groomed its gardens, cultivating the vibrancy that many communities aspire to. What’s more, this outdoor space is ready for barbecuers year round. And during the summer it’s even more a joy to spend time up here: residents can take pleasure in swimming in (or simply lounging beside) the rooftop’s expansive pool.
The Suites
Kept up-to-date courtesy of thorough renovations and refinishings, the suites feel as bright and fresh as many recently constructed condominiums. Although those new builds cannot compare to the exceptionally generous floor plans found at 80 Front East.
The Market Square Condos’ floor plans include studios that start at around 800 square feet, one bedrooms with the option of dens that range from approximately 1,100 and 1,500 square feet, and two bedroom homes reaching to almost 2,800 square feet, with a grand total of 187 downtown Toronto condos. Some of the suites even span two-storeys and boast access to private outdoor terrace spaces. Finally, many suites feature wood burning fireplaces — a cozy feature that’s uncommon in the city.
The Neighbourhood
The highlight of the St. Lawrence neighbourhood is, of course, the St. Lawrence Market. But, in addition to the talented craftspeople and artisans, the proud produce vendors, butchers, and fishmongers all stationed in the St. Lawrence Market’s historical heritage brick building, many popular franchises and diverse restaurants, pubs, bars and patios line Front Street at the foot of the condo. Amongst them, the Hot House Café at the corner of Front and Church Street hosts one of the most delicious brunches in the city, with a live Jazz band on Sundays.
Sharing the Market Square is a movie theatre, which happens to be located just steps from the condos. The Market Square Cinemas offers an intimate atmosphere for screenings unlike any other in the city.
Lastly, running errands will be very easy for residents. Of course, the St. Lawrence Market is right across the street, but the Metro, LCBO and Rexall can also be quite convenient, and are located on Front Street between Market Lane and Church.
Transportation
Those living in the Market Square Condos can both boast about the neighbourhood’s walkability, and easily get to destinations around or outside the city with ease. For those who often drive, the highway is just around the corner. From 80 Front East: drivers need only turn south onto Jarvis Street, and follow this road for a few minutes to connect to the Gardiner Expressway.
Alternatively, for those who prefer public transit, the 504 King Streetcar is just a few minutes north of the building. The 504 Streetcar takes riders east and west through the city, and even allows them to transfer onto the subway at King Station, on the Yonge-University-Spadina line.
While King is the closest subway station, the condos are also only about a ten-minute walk from Union Station, where GO Transit, VIA Rail, and the UP Express can all be reached.
