About 83 Borough Drive — 360 at the City Centre Condos
There’s nothing typical about the architecture at 83 Borough Drive: cylindrical glass towers simply aren’t the norm in Toronto. Perhaps Burka Varacalli Architects predicted a divisive response to the 360 at the City Centre Condos, as they also designed more conventional stucco townhouse units for those who don’t feel like living in such a unique structure.
Built in 2006 by Tridel, 83 Borough reaches to 36 storeys and is divided into 489 homes. And while residents unanimously agree on the merits of amenities like a concierge and security, underground and visitor parking, and a party room, indoor pool, gym, and sauna, condo seekers with dogs will have to look elsewhere, as the building maintains a no-dog policy.
The Suites
The homes at 83 Borough Dr range considerably in size, starting at approximately 550 and reaching to around 1,500 square feet. Condo seekers with all different needs are accounted for, with one bedroom, one bedroom plus den, two bedroom, two bedroom plus den, and three bedroom Toronto condos for sale and rent throughout the building.
As previously mentioned, those in search of something that resembles a house rather than a condo can opt for one of the townhomes at 83 Borough Dr. These units also happen to boast 12-foot ceilings, two bedrooms, and one bathroom each.
The Neighbourhood
It may be a ways away from the downtown core of Toronto, however there’s plenty to do in Scarborough, even in the quaint Bendale neighbourhood. For one, 83 Borough Dr is situated right outside the Scarborough Town Centre, an indoor mall that’s home to fashion stores, a food court, a movie theatre, and even a Walmart. Just south of the mall is where a number of useful amenities can be found: a Toronto Public Library branch, the Scarborough Civic Centre, a YMCA, and a Service Canada Centre.
Those who can’t find what they need in the mall can try the big-box stores at Kennedy Commons, a large strip mall that’s home to LCBO, Michaels, Chapters, and Party City, to name a few. And hungry residents are encouraged to explore Bendale’s array of eclectic independent restaurants that can be found along Ellesmere Road and Lawrence Avenue East.
While outdoorsy types have plenty of parks to choose from, we recommend checking out the Birkland Ravine, which follows West Highland Creek. Also on this creek is the even larger Thomson Memorial Park also on this creek, home to the Scarborough Museum.
Transportation
Living beside Scarborough Town Centre is useful for more than just shopping: there’s also a subway station located underneath the mall. Residents living at 83 Borough Dr can visit Scarborough Centre Station in order to catch trains heading west along the Scarborough line, toward a connection for the Bloor-Danforth line. Those heading into the downtown core can also use the 21 Brimley or 43 Kennedy bus to reach Kennedy Station on the Bloor-Danforth line.
Drivers living at 83 Borough Dr can also get around the city with ease, especially since the 401 is located just a few blocks north of the building. Once on this major highway, residents can head west toward the Don Valley Parkway, Pearson International Airport, the 427, and much more.
