About 96 St Patrick Street — 9T6
With a clever name like the 9T6 Condos — standing for the 96 of the street address — you’d expect some inventiveness out of this building. Located at 96 St. Patrick Street in the Grange Park neighbourhood, creative and innovative are a few words that can certainly be used to describe the residences.
Built in 2008 by Camrost-Felcorp, the 9T6 Condos is a 17-storey structure of glass, glass, and more glass. A 2-storey base is combined with a tower above, together holding a total of 222 modern homes.
We know what you’re probably thinking: what’s so innovative about a glass tower? While this type of structure has been criticized as of late for their omnipresence in major cities like Toronto, the 9T6 Condos are a breath of fresh air for the street on which it sits.
The area surrounding the 96T Condos is inhabited mostly by concrete buildings, making this glass façade a much-welcomed intervention — and change of pace — for St. Patrick Street. Toronto Star condo critic Christopher Hume even lauds the condos at 96 St. Patrick Street in this article for their ability to lift the block out of the 1970’s.
And without going overboard, the developers have managed to provide just the right amount of amenities for its residents. A rooftop terrace with barbecues awaits spring each year, at which time residents can gather for meals al fresco. Inside, a gym, party room, and guest suites are available for use year-round. And on top of all of that, guests of residents can find a spot in the visitor parking lot before heading to the lobby and being greeted by the concierge.
The Suites
Toronto condos for sale at 96 St. Patrick Street vary enough in size and layout in order to suit all sorts of needs. For example, the building is ideal for young professionals and creative types who have just graduated from OCAD, yet aren’t prepared to part ways with the neighbourhood yet. Alternatively, the 9T6 Condos makes for an ideal spot for professionals who work in the Financial District but would rather live in a more creative neighbourhood.
With homes starting at around 450 and reaching to 1,700 square feet, all of the above types can find something they like in the building. Families will be more than satisfied with the townhouse units that inhabit the first level of the building, with these 2-storey homes containing two or three bedrooms each.
Above these, exposures range from one bedroom to two bedrooms plus dens. The open concept styles allow for an additional sense of space, with laminate flooring, and granite or stone countertops creating a modern atmosphere. And as for outdoor space, many of the homes are outfitted with comfortably sized balconies, where residents can garden or eat their meals under the sun.
The Neighbourhood
With a next-door neighbour like the Village by the Grange, residents of the 9T6 Condos will surely never go hungry. The food court here is a popular place for OCAD students, but there’s no reason why residents shouldn’t take advantage as well.
Art lovers living at 96 St. Patrick Street will love their close proximity to the Art Gallery of Ontario. And those who don’t feel like spending money on a membership can even visit for free on Wednesday evenings.
Those who love to shop can head down to Queen West, where global brands line the street until Spadina, where fabric and textile shops start to take over. Slightly farther west on queen, residents will find trendy bars, local boutiques, and vintage shops galore.
A trip down Dundas, on the other hand, will land explorers in Kensington Market. Here, adventurous types can taste foods from around the world, while savvy shoppers can find bargains on everything from second-hand furniture and housewares to handmade jewelry and paper goods.
Chinese supermarkets along Dundas and Spadina are great places to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables — as well as authentic treats, of course. Alternatively, residents running errands can head over to the Market by Longo’s at Bay and Dundas, or the luxurious Sak’s Food Hall by Pusateri’s at Queen and Yonge.
Transportation
Osgoode Station takes only about 6 minutes to reach on foot, ideal for travelers heading north or south on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line. Alternatively, streetcars along Queen West run 24-hours a day, offering transportation toward West Queen West, South Parkdale, The Beaches, and beyond.
Drivers can head down to the Gardiner Expressway in order to travel along lakefront in a hurry. From here, those exiting the city can transfer onto the 427 or the Don Valley Parkway, to the west and the east respectively.
